NOTICE of RACE
The Organizing Authority is Mount’s Bay Sailing Club.
The notation ‘[NP]’ in a rule means that a boat may not protest another boat for breaking that rule. This changes RRS 60.1(a).
1. RULES
1.1 The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 RRS 40.1 (Personal Flotation Devices) applies at all times while afloat during the event.
1.3 RRS 90.3(e) Scoring applies.
1.3 [NP] [DP] Boats must have on board a rope specifically for towing purposes only. This rope must be not less than 10 metres in length and not less than 8 mm in diameter.
2. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration and may be available on the organizing authority’s web site beforehand.
3. COMMUNICATION
[DP] While racing, except in an emergency, a boat shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.
4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 The event is open to boats of the Osprey and Contender Class, that comply with the class rules.
4.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing an entry form and paying the required fee.
Entry forms will be available at registration.
4.3 A parent / guardian consent and supervision declaration must be completed for each
competitor under 18 years of age.
5. FEES
The entry fee for each competing boat is £40.

9. SCHEDULE
9.1 Registration will take place in the Mount’s Bay Sailing Club clubhouse on Saturday 3rd
May from 1000hrs.
9.2 Six races are scheduled :- Three on Saturday 3rd and three on Sunday 4th. Races not
sailed on Saturday will be lost
9.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on Saturday is 1255hrs.The
Second and third races will be back to back.
9.4 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on Sunday is 1055hrs. The
Second and third races will be back to back.
9.5 On Sunday, no warning signal will be made after 1500hrs.
10. EQUIPMENT INSPECTIONS
10.1 Boats may be inspected at any time.
10.2 The fact that Race Officials may conduct inspections of a boat does not reduce the
responsibilities of each competitor set out in the Notice of Race.

12. VENUE
Racing will take place in Penzance Bay, known locally as Mount’ Bay, generally to the
South and west of St Michael’s Mount.
13. COURSES
The courses to be sailed will be set out in the Sailing Instructions.

15. SCORING
15.1 The event will be scored as provided in RRS Appendix A the Low point system
Except that ;-
a) If three or fewer races are completed, each boat’s series score shall be the total of
her race scores; or
b) If more than three races are completed, each boat’s series score shall be the total
of her race scores excluding her worst excludable score.
15.2 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
15.3 RRS A5.3 applies.

21. DATA PROTECTION
21.1 Competitors’ and support persons personal information provided to the organizing
Authority will be used to facilitate participation in the event. The legal basis for
processing that personal information is contract. Personal information will be stored
and used in accordance with the organizing authority’s privacy policy, which is
published on its website at mbsc.org.uk. When required by the rules, personal
information may be shared with the Royal Yachting Association and / or World Sailing.
The results of the event and the outcome of any hearing or appeal may be published.
21.2 Competitors and support persons grant to the organizing authority without payment
the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any motion pictures, still pictures and
live, taped or filmed television of or relating to the event.
22. RISK STATEMENT
Rule 3 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states:- “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to
participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone. “ Sailing is by its nature an
unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in
the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:-
a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept
responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such
inherent risk whilst taking part in the event.
b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their
own property whether afloat or ashore.
c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by
their own actions or omissions.
d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate.
e) The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and
volunteers by the event organizer does not relieve them of their own responsibilities.
f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in
extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.
g) It is their responsibility to familiarise themselves with any risks specific to this
venue or this event drawn to their attention in any rules and information produced
for the venue or event and to attend ant safety briefing held for the event.
23. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a
Minimum cover of £3,000,000 per incident or the equivalent.
24. PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded depending on the number of entries and at the discretion of the
Race committee. Prizegiving will take place in the MBSC clubhouse on Sunday, as soon
as possible after the last Race.
